The shape of the casing distributes the forces to the frame, so that each part of the structure supports a small portion of the load giving strength to the structure.
The advantages of this type of structures is that they are empty inside, so they can be used as containers, in addition that their thin outer layer means using little amount of material.
Frame structures have a skeleton or frame of smaller elements (called members) but resilient in the form of rods or tubes which are joined together, and then are covered with other materials, supporting the structure in general. All simple or complex frame structures must solve similar problems that must be considered in their joints, type of material, their anchorages and design.
